Austin’s Story

Meet my brother Austin

Austin was my youngest brother who took his life at just 16, leaving behind a community that loved him and a family shattered by his sudden loss. Known for his ginger hair, humor, and close-knit relationships, Austin’s death propelled me to confront men’s mental health struggles and dedicate my career to suicide prevention.

Author of Things in My Pocket

As an Author, my book Things in My Pocket delves into the stories behind everyday objects—simple items that reveal profound truths. One of the most significant parts of this journey is a letter to my youngest brother, written after his tragic passing, which sheds light on grief, love, and resilience.

“Ethan described in one word would be REMARKABLE! I am equally touched and impressed by how he steps up boldly in the space of mental health, leading young men in particular into a space, where it is ok to show and talk about emotions.
With suicide rates climbing, and showing a strong tendency of young men being on the forefront of these statistics, Ethan takes a well needed approach to vulnerability, showing his true strength of a big brother.”
